Washington Head Coach Takes Responsibility for Keeping Jayden Daniels in Game Prior to Significant Injury

The Commanders leader Dan Quinn has stated he bears some the blame for a serious injury to the squad’s quarterback, Daniels.

Details of the Injury and Context

Jayden Daniels, who enjoyed one of the greatest first-year performances of all time last season, sustained a dislocated left elbow in Sunday’s defeat to the Seahawks. Even though the quarterback throws with his dominant arm, the injury has left his campaign in doubt. The condition was significant enough that the TV coverage did not show repeats and several players looked away as he was treated by medical staff.

Criticism and Coach’s Response

Coach Quinn faced criticism as many felt the rookie should not have been on the field in the first place. The injury happened in the fourth quarter with the Washington behind 38-7, rendering a comeback unlikely. It is typical in such circumstances for clubs to put in their reserve QB to prevent harm to their starter.

“I get that. I’ve been thinking about it constantly, too, and, wow, I erred,” Quinn remarked of his choice to leave Daniels in the game. “That is 100% on me.”

Fallout and Team Prospects

Mariota will be the team’s starting quarterback from now on, but he will lead a roster in turmoil. Following reaching the NFC championship game the prior year behind the rookie’s excellence, the franchise have faced difficulties this season. They also lost cornerback Marshon Lattimore (torn ACL) and pass-catcher McCaffrey (collarbone fracture) on game day, and have a number of other starters on injured reserve. The Washington squad are 3-6 so far, and it would take a massive turnaround for the club to reach the playoffs.
